Earth Hour is a global event organized by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature, also known as World Wildlife Fund) and is held on the last Saturday of March annually, asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need of taking action on climate change.
This year, Indochina Junk continued to participate in Earth Hour campaign, which calls action from all our staff, customers and local communities to improve their perception about saving energy and environmental protection as our strong commitment of responsible travel.
As planned, on 19th March, all non-essential lights and other electrical devices such as air-conditioning, computers, refrigerators and printers were turned off for 1 hour from 14.00 to 15.00 at Hanoi office, Halong office, from 20.30 to 21.30 in Yen Duc village and on boat with the participation of more than 300 staffs and 200 customers who were cruising on the bay. A number of responding activities such as meeting and marching on the street were held in Hanoi and Halong city on the same day. Indochina Junk is in the hope of sending a powerful message promoting a brighter future for our planet and its inhabitants, emphasizing the importance of living sustainably.
This year, the campaign has received great results, saving around 300KW of electricity during Earth Hour 10th with the support of all staff members and valued customers.
Small action, big difference. Let’s go hand in hand to create a sustainable world!
